ARNA'S CHILDREN
Arna Mer (1929-1995) led in the last years of her life a small theatre group of Palestinian children on the West Bank. Her son Juliano, who directed the group, used all those years his camera to film the rehearsals and performances of the plays. The theatre closed a couple of years ago after the Israeli occupation. Back in Jenin he discovers little by little the tragic story of the theatre children who were so dear to him.

CRISTINA BRANCO
In the film directors Leendert Pot and Michel Schšpping visit Cristina Branco (the Portuguese Fado singer) and her husband (and accompanist) Cust—dio Castelo at their countryside home. There we experience how a Cape Verdian poem leads to a new composition. Cristina and Cust—dio continue to explore boundaries and reinterpret fado music.

DAME LA MANO
New York and the nearby Latin areas of New Jersey are home to many Cuban exiles. A number of them are the main characters in "Dame la mano". Every week they look forward to Sunday evening, the night they can live it up on the worn-out dance floor of a local dance hall called "La Esquina Habanera". This is the only place in the United States where the authentic rumba is still nurtured. Dance is much more than just a night out, it is the oxygen and the life blood of the main characters in this film.

DREAMING OF HOLLAND
In the nineteenth century, Holland was inundated with artists from abroad. They visited a country that was, in their eyes, very exotic. They registered what they saw in paintings that sold like hot cakes abroad. In his book Dromen van Holland. Buitenlandse kunstenaars schilderen Holland 1800-1914, Hans Kraan documents the phenomenon in detail. Whenever film maker Peter Delpeut browsed through the book, he was surprised by the exotic aspect of this 19th-century Holland. In Dromen van Holland, Peter Delpeut goes on a journey in his own country, along routes and sites that were popular with artists in the nineteenth century.
