ANOTHER
ANOTHER director,
scenario : Bea de Visser
This short
film is the story of a duo - the movement and the choreographer - that
when walking is measured discovers that distance is zero. A film about
walking for which I have asked Rudi van Dantzig (the Dutch choreographer,
former dancer and former artistic leader of The National Ballet) to
work on this film, because I do consider dance as a problematic way
of walking. The film develops in two directions: a line forward which is crossed by its reverse. Only at the end Rudi van Dantzig is introduced to begin at the very start of the process of choreography. The location is at Van Dantzig's home, where he use to make his ballets in a small kitchen, the only escape for the longer runs in his corridor. A location which is just an enlargement of the head, an enlargement of thought. The process remains there: at the very beginning, no final movements - all developments are stopped just after starting. The subject of the film is closely connected to the original making of an art-piece. "I take pleasure in still having silence in my head. Then everything still seems to be indefinable and not formed. Ideas can still go in all directions, or they seem to be able to do that. One fantasises and one dreams and possibilities that seem to be unlimited" (Rudi van Dantzig, 'inner voice' Another Another).
