Biography

Ineke Smits was born in 1960, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. She studied Fine Arts at the Rotterdam Art Academy, then specialised in directing at the National Film and Television School in England. Granted a scolarship by the Dutch Cultural Broadcasting Promotion Fund and the British Council, she completed her directing degree in 1993. Besides making films, she has been teaching at Arnhem School of Fine Arts, Breda post-graduate Photographers and Designers Course and Masters Course at the Eindhoven School of Design. She initiated exchange projects and guest lectures at the Filmschool in Tbilisi, Georgia. Since 12 years she has been visiting and working in Georgia on a regular basis.
